Outreach Programs

The purpose of these programs is to demystify science and bring it a level where people of all ages understand and feel comfortable to explore it and apply it in the real world. Simples fun activities and explorations that will give opportunities individuals to PLAY, DISCOVER, LEARN AND LOVE SCIENCE.

Special Events

Science Timmins participates at many local, regional, provincial and national events. Every year 5 winners from the Regional Science Fair participate at the Canada-Wide Science Fair and the International Science Fair. This program helps students to meet young scientists from across Canada and the world and exchange scientific ideas and thoughts as well as to compare their accomplishments with their peers. Also the best senior Science Olympics Team participates every year at provincial competitions. Also, the best teams from Robotic Challenge Team will compete at regional and provincial competitions.

Smart Science ideas and Challenges

This section is dedicated to scientific ideas and challenges that simple, practical and smart that will motivate you to find answers or solutions. We will not be providing answers but we will challenge you to find solutions. Think of this:

Build and test a balloon-powered toy car.
Build and test a toy car made of pop cans and a small electric motor of 1.5 V.
Design a system that can locate missing objects.
Design a system that can detect the use of a cellular phone by the driver while the car is in motion.
